Dr. Gauerke graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1992. After serving seven years in the submarine force, he graduated from the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine in 2003. He completed a transitional year internship and Anatomic/Clinical pathology residency at the National Capital Consortium (Bethesda/Walter Reed) in 2008, and a hematopathology fellowship at Northwestern in 2011. He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical pathology and Hematopathology. After serving as a pathologist with the Navy for 23 years, Dr. Gauerke joined San Diego Pathologists in 2023.
